Troy Sims started his banking career in January of 1992 in Spokane, Washington. He has worked in home lending for most of his career, including working on the National Sales Management teams for GMAC and First Horizon where he traveled the entire country working with different teams.  Troy went on to build a home lending division for AmericanWest Bank that spanned Seattle to San Diego as well as markets across the Western United States.

Most recently, Troy and his team built a home lending division from the ground up for a community bank based out of Spokane where he managed residential and consumer lending. In just over seven years, Troy and his team managed to grow the production from zero to one of the mostly highly regarded production teams in Eastern Washington with a focus on taking care of the client and providing an outstanding experience for the client while at the same time ensuring high quality and compliant loans.

Based in Spokane Washington, and joining the Portage Bank team in September of 2024, Troy brings over 30 years of experience in sales, operations, and compliance success with a philosophy of that “bigger isn’t better, better is better”.

Troy is active in the Spokane Association of Mortgage Professionals, having served as President two terms. He is also active at the state and national levels tracking and working on legislation to ensure access to affordable housing.

When not at work, Troy enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and attempting to balance loyalties to the local college sports teams where his children have graduated from, including Gonzaga, Washington State University, and Eastern Washington University.
